Through the discovery process, we identified key internal and external journeys for different customer types (buying, letting, selling, etc) and different departments (marketing and ops). Scoping out the user journeys enabled us to ensure we were creating the right experience for the right people. We also used this time to explore options around integration with some key internal tools and platforms, as well as decide on the overall approach – which we determined should be a headless website integrated via a custom API with their CRM Reapit.

Building the website in a headless environment meant separating the back-end CMS from the front-end user interface, giving us the flexibility to build exactly the right digital experience. Approaching the project in this way also enabled us to create a foundation for further growth in the digital ecosystem and a platform that could handle large amounts of data without compromising on speed and performance.

During the discovery phase, we identified the key part that some internal systems had to play in the customer experience. This included Reapit, a popular estate agency CRM and property management system that Karl Tatler relies on heavily to manage most of their operations. Working with the Property Hive plugin and creating a custom app for the Reapit Marketplace, we are able to seamlessly pull in live data to display the very latest properties on offer as well as show the various statuses (available, sale agreed, sold).

The headless architecture has led to significant improvements in the speed and loading performance of the website, and adopting a mobile-first approach to design and development ensures a better experience for their high percentage of mobile users. Clean and descriptive property URLs, as opposed to the old ones with auto-generated strings, will also help them improve organic performance for localised searches.
